The village of Adelboden in the Swiss region of Bernese Oberland is at an altitude of 1,353 metres and is a quiet, family-friendly place with only a few thousand inhabitants. There area a range of exciting things for the whole family to do, all setagainst a backdrop of majestic mountains. The area provides wide open spaces, perfect for kite-flying and alpine walking in the clean air.
In the summer, the village centre has a climbing wall and activities are organised for children on a regular basis. There is a holiday resort resting on a sunny terrace in the west. Above Adelboden, high alpine climbing is a favourite at Ammertenspitz and the spectacular sights and sounds of Engstligen Falls are a short hike away. There is also a cable railway which astounds the traveller with superb views of the mountain and valley from an altitude of almost two thousand metres.
In the winter, the village is transformed into a magical wonderland! Adelboden is a small part of one of Switzerland's biggest and most attractive snow-sport regions and is an area renowned for superb cross-country skiing. The village church is used in the winter as a mini concert hall for visiting artists performing a range of classic works and the surrounding mountain landscape the perfect setting for a romantic sleigh ride. The resort, which encompasses Adelboden, has the largest density of mountain restaurants and ski huts, so you will never be at a loss for something to do.
